After a long illness Darlinda Merritt’s spirit has gone home November 29, 2020, to rest well with God.
Darlinda Harrison was born into this world on February 28, 1960 in Chicago, Illinois to the union of Rosie & Willie Harrison, who preceded her in death in 1994 and 2005 respectively. Darlinda spent her childhood on the South Side of Chicago where she completed her elementary & High School education at Einstein & Wendell Phillips respectively.
Darlinda married Oscar Merritt, June 11, 1977 where she then became Darlinda Merritt. This was a love one could only dream. Darlinda and Oscar gave birth to their first child, a daughter Darlene Merritt, who preceded them in death in 2018. Darlinda and Oscar also went on to have two more daughter. Danielle Merritt, Chanel Merritt, and Zharia Willis their bonus daughter.
Wife. Mother. Sister. Daughter. Friend. Provider. Those are just a few of the titles Darlinda took on during her life. Darlinda is loved by so many people simply because of the love she gave to so many. As a result of these amazing qualities, every time Darlinda walked into a room, she lit it up. Darlinda’s life was just as beautiful as her house shoes, and footies that she loved so much. Close or not, Darlinda inspired every single person she came across. Her influence will forever remain in the hears of every single person she inspired.
Darlinda Merritt leaves to mourn her 3 beautiful daughters Danielle, Chanel, and Zharia. Six special children, Zhamir, Marcus, Mario, Tiffany, Jeanette (Chrissy), and Rosie. 15 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.
Darlinda also leaves to mourn three older sisters Mary Atkinson, Brenda Abrams, and Connie Hector. 3 younger siblings Jeanette Patton who preceded her in death in 1999, and Paulette and Johnnie Harrison. She leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Darlinda Merritt will be missed eternally. You’d truly understand what one in a million meant after meeting Darlinda.
