~ In Loving Memory Of Genevieve J. Macander ~

Genevieve J. Macander (nee Zelazny) age 104 of Harvey passed away on August 21, 2017. Genevieve was born at home on Carse Avenue on November 13, 1912. She was a lifelong resident of Harvey, Illinois and never lived more than 2 blocks away from where she was born. Genevieve was a devoted mother and homemaker and assisted her husband Joe on a daily basis at Macander TV & Appliances/Lionel Train Store in Harvey, taking phone calls, writing tickets for repairs, and taking care of customers while managing a home, children, husband, and father. She was a Life-long parishioner of St. John the Baptist Church of Harvey. In fact, she was born 2 years before St. John's became a Parish, so she was baptized in Posen, Illinois. She enjoyed bingo and crocheting. Aunt Mae Goletz showed her how to crochet Afghans and her niece JoAnn Macander was her crocheting mentor. Genevieve was a member of Catholic Daughters of America, Polish Women's Alliance, St. John's Golden Agers and St. John's Altar Guild.

Beloved daughter of late Stanley and Josephine Zelazny, loving wife of late Joseph S. Macander, cherished mother of late Patricia Ann Macander, late Stanley J. Macander, late Donald Macander, Richard Macander, Barbara Ann (Rob) Haag and daughter-in-law Barbara Jean Macander. Loving Grandmother of Richard, Karen, Ronald, Michael, Robert, Lynn, Jeanne, Christine, Kenneth, John, and Mark. Dearest great-grandmother of late Mathew Evans Mark, Brandon, Bridgette, Bradley, Richie, Elizabeth, Cole, Dylan, Danielle, Hannah, Andrea, Erik, Austin, Nicholas, Peter, Christopher, late Robert F. Haag, Jordan, Kevin, Justin, Joshua, Jeremy, Joseph, and Michael. Loving great-great-grandmother of Vincent, Adrian, Damian, Caelen, Alan, Audrey, Julia, Kierstyn, Mckenzie, Katherine, Owen, Alex, and Eyden. Loving sister of late Pauline, late Joseph, late Marie, late Estelle, late Frank, and late Harry.

Visitation will be on Friday, August 25, 2017 from 2 PM until 8 PM at the Olen Mortuary of Harvey, 15700 S. Emerald Ave Harvey, IL 60426 (708-331-0654). Funeral service will be on Saturday, August 26, 2017 from 8 AM until 9 AM. Prayers from Chapel at 9 AM for a 9:30 AM Funeral Mass at St. John the Baptist Church of Harvey with Rev. Edward Romanski officiating. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. Genevieve will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
