Barbara Jean Macander age 81, of Lansing/Steger, formally of Harvey, Illinois passed away on July 25, 2019 at home surrounded by family. Barbara was born July 6, 1938 in Roseland, Illinois to the late Victor and Mae (Stewart) Gorney. She married late Donald Macander on June 24, 1961. Barbara worked at Lee Enterprise for twenty years and in the late 90's retired to spend more time with family. She was a parishioner of St. John the Baptist Church of Harvey for over 50 years. She enjoyed watching movies, listening to music (singing along mostly), and crocheting. Barbara Jean was also a member of the St. John's Altar Guild Society.

Loving daughter of late Mae Stewart and late Victor Gorney. Beloved sister of late Arline Stahlak, Richard (Helen) Gorney, and late Victor (Maryanne) Gorney. Survived by brother-in-law Donald Stahlak, Richard Macander, and sister-in-law Barabra (Robert) Haag. Loving mother of five children; Ronald (Cynthia) Macander, Robert Macander, Lynn (Mark) Giangiulio, Jeanne (Edward) Arnold, Kenneth (Brenda) Macander. Beloved grandmother of thirteen grandchildren; Andrea, Erik, Richard, Megan, Alyssa, Brandon, Dylan, Michael, Austin, Danielle, Bridgette, Bradley, Hannah. Dearest great-grandmother of five great-grandchildren; Vincent, Adrian, Damien, Helena, Aria. Cherished by many beloved nieces,  nephews and extended family.

Visitation will be on Monday, July 29, 2019 from 4 PM until 8 PM at the Olen Funeral Home of Harvey: 15700 S. Emerald Ave. Harvey, IL 60426 (708-331-0654). A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, July 30, 2019 from 8:30 AM until 9:30 AM. Prayer service to commence at 9:30 AM for a 10 AM Funeral Mass at St. John the Baptist Church of Harvey with Rev. Edward Romanski Officiating. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, Calumet City, IL.
